This is the perfect before-the-gym endurance drink. Try it 30 minutes before your workout!
1 cup spring or filtered water
1 Tbs chia seeds
2 tsp fresh lemon or lime juice
2 tsp agave nectar or honey
Whisk the chia seeds into the water and allow them to soak for 10-15 minutes. Stir in the lemon or lime juice and agave nectar or honey, and whisk well. Drink immediately. Makes one serving.
The name “chia” comes from a Mayan word that means “strengthening.” Sweet, bitter, and neural, chia seeds are rich in omega-3 fatty acids. They are considered an energy tonic that carries fluids to body cells.
