I was not happy about beginning the fall season with my very own cold! I’m never happy to get a cold, but this is way ahead of the season, and totally inappropriate. Earlier this week, my husband got the same cold, (ok, probably from me), and he asked if I would make some of that good sore throat remedy that I made last year. I had forgotten all about it, but it is very soothing and healing-supporting, so I share it with you here. Even though we are way ahead of “the season,” I have heard of many upper-respiratory distresses occurring in our area, and suspect that many of you have as well.
HOME REMEDY FOR SORE THROAT
For a sore throat and overall immune boosting – cut up 2 lemons, drop them in a small mason jar. Finely grind 1/2 – 1 Tbs. fresh ginger root. Add 1 tsp. cinnamon or pumpkin spice mix. Pour raw honey over it all. Stir well. Store in the fridge. Take 1 teaspoon 3-4 times a day (or more if desired). The mixture can be added to a cup of cold or warm (NOT HOT!!!) water or tea. The lemons have antiseptic qualities and are phlegm recovering. Ginger and cinnamon improve circulation and digestion. Cinnamon also calms the nerves, and the honey is sweet, soothing, and energy producing.
Be sure to also drink lots of fluids and get plenty of rest.
I wish you all well!
